Synapse and Hi-Hat

Post by mercury »

Could the Synapse be used with a Roland VH-11/12/13 hat pad?
The pad has two outputs; one for the pad trigger which has two zones (edge and bow) and one for the controller.

I believe so in battery (you could set it up). . . but probably not in virtual brain just yet

You could connect the Roland hat pad pedal output to the HAT or EXP input on the Synapse and split the hat pad outputs into the Kick 1 and Kick 2 inputs on the Synapse (since they are like pad inputs) and then assign the Synapse to the Pad 3 input in the Virtual Brain. There are 6 triggerable zones per VB pad and you'd only be using up 2 with that Roland hat. The controller signal from the pedal could be used to do all kinds of stuff while you play the hat pad too.

Battery would give you some great options because you could actually change what samples are being triggered based on the position of the pedal as you play the hat pad. That kind of functionality can be assigned in the Cell Activation section of Battery under the Setup tab.
