Modulating parameters in Ableton without max or pure data

Post by analogdrummer »

So I was fooling around in Ableton and I figured out how to map midi parameters to the pad CC 110 without all the fancy pure data or Max nonsense.

And, annoyingly, its really freaking simple.

1. Pick your fader, knob, whatever parameter you want to map the radial pad CC signal to.
2. Tap the pad. This will map the parameter to a midi note (as expected).
3. Here's the tricky part: hit undo once.
4. You are now mapped to the pad's CC 110 signal.

Presuming I'm correct, the mandala sends out a CC signal immediately followed by a midi note. If so, Ableton is mapping to each signal in rapid succession. You just have to tell it that the second signal was an "error".

I am now slightly annoyed that I bought Max for Live...haha. Someone else give this a shot and let me know if it works!
