Re: Anyone use Mandala live on stage?
I'll second launch's reply. I have a Firebox that I've used on stage for years. I believe I use channels 3/4 for monitoring + click and 1/2 for output to the board (I might have it backwards - it's been awhile). Anyway, it works great, but make sure you get a sound check, not just to make sure the c...

Re: Volume pedal with synapse
If you want to use a volume pedal here, you need to connect both the in and out jacks to the synapse with the cable shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1ia2h__JtM Basically TRS on one end and two mono cables on the other. A control and volume pedal have the same guts generally but a...

Modulating parameters in Ableton without max or pure data
So I was fooling around in Ableton and I figured out how to map midi parameters to the pad CC 110 without all the fancy pure data or Max nonsense. And, annoyingly, its really freaking simple. 1. Pick your fader, knob, whatever parameter you want to map the radial pad CC signal to. 2. Tap the pad. Th...

Re: Modulating Synths and Effects in Ableton Live Using Mand
I was curious have either of you delved further into instrument rack and Drum Rack set ups? In short, I have. When Live 9 came out, I plunked down the extra cash for the Suite with Max for Live. While I haven't had nearly enough time to get into what you can do with it, I did manage to find a way t...

Re: Midi Note length
I hit this problem in Ableton as well. I found that a MIDI Note Length plug in did the trick to lengthen it enough to trigger. It's basically just a hold on the incoming MIDI notes. Not sure if there is something similar in Main Stage. I talk about it a little in this video: http://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: Notating Mandala performances?
But how would you represent the values on a piece of music? I'm not sure how the performer would use "55", "127", etc. Is there a graphical representation that could show the center to rim position changes? Maybe something from the classical/solo percussion world?

Notating Mandala performances?
The new Amy Knoles video got me thinking... If you're trying to capture and convey a Mandala performance to another person, how do you do it? I suppose you could use a different note for each zone of the Mandala drum, but what about the CC change from center to rim? How do you compose (in the tradit...

Re: What do I need to get started?
If you're just getting started with electronic drums, you might find this helpful: http://morganhendry.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/adding-an-electronics-rig-to-an-acoustic-drum-set/ It's a fairly long summary of my experiences on the topic and some of the lessons I've taken away from my mistakes.
