Re: What is under the surface pad?

I've opened up both versions and it's the same hard surface underneath the rubber on both. The newer one has a better feel for me overall though because the rubber layer is a bit different now. It's more like the feel of an acoustic.

Re: Mandala Black Beauty snare application

That's an ASIO4ALL issue. Try toggling those outputs off and on a couple times in the ASIO4ALL control panel to make them available. Something is definitely currently trying to use those outputs even though no other applications are open. It's something in your system, like your computer's default a...

Re: mandala PC trouble

To install the Virtual Brain v3 on your hard drive all you need to do is drag everything in the folder called 'Drag Enclosed Folders to Windows' to your hard drive from the install DVD. After that just plug your Mandala into a USB port and then open Mandala Virtual Brain v3.0.exe. Just follow the st...

Re: Modulating Synths and Effects in Ableton Live Using Mand

I've been trying to do that with Live too but no matter what external controller I use it always only links up with the last MIDI message that hits it. I guess that makes it easy for a lot of people, but in our case the lack of manual entry is a hindrance. I'll post up here if I make any progress...

Re: macbook 6.1 setup

You should just drag the entire Mandala Virtual Brain folder (which includes the program and the library and scales, curves, etc.) into the trash and empty the trash. Then follow the Getting Started steps from the Manual. Don't worry about the updates. Install them after you get the basic program op...

Re: macbook 6.1 setup

Sounds like nothing is really wrong but you just haven't configured everything yet. This should be an easy one. As a note, make sure you haven't moved anything out of the Mandala folder that you dragged from the DVD . The program can't be sitting on your desktop or something without being in the fol...

Re: Mandala and Ableton Lesson

This would really be a matter of only needing to know how to use Ableton Live, because the Mandala is just the same as having a MIDI keyboard with 7 keys to press and a mod wheel to turn. The only difference is that you hit the Mandala with sticks and it's a lot faster and more sensitive than a MIDI...

Re: iconnect midi

Well, your 'cans' and 'cannots' are almost accurate, and some of them depend on whether you will be using a Mandala v2.0 or a mk2.9. With the 2.9, almost all of the pad's onboard MIDI configurability has been locked in place. With the 2.0, a lot of little things can be adjusted, which for some peopl...

Re: iconnect midi

The mk2.9's MIDI output configuration is fixed, and the adjustments are now to be made in the software you are controlling. Each zone outputs a note number and the software you are controlling is where you set your number of zones by optionally using ranges of notes to trigger samples. Only MIDI cha...
