Re: Mandala Note Numbers and Gate Time - no VB

I talk about this a little in a youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF6xgJbX ... ture=g-upl

Unless you have Max/MSP already, I'd try PureData (or PD). It's free and can do front end MIDI processing for your software of choice.

Re: Laptop why???????

You raise a valid point, and (as much as I love my Mandalas) every drummer should ask those questions before taking the plunge into the world of electronic instruments. I actually wrote a article on my experiences with adding electronics (both keyboards and electronic drums) to my acoustic kit. All ...

Re: Doing the Math - Value for Money

Quite simply, I doff my nine-sided cap to you. Can you get working on the US fiscal crisis next?

Re: Mounting a Mandala to a Pearl-style clamp

After a few weeks of using this method, I noticed that the tube has started to deform. There are two options here. One is to use a thicker tube. The other is to use a coupling nut. I found that a 7/16"-14 by 1-3/4" coupling nut fits perfectly over an 50 mm long M8 fastener and lines up exa...

Re: Controlling an Analog Modular Synthesizer with a Mandala

I put the patch used in this example up on my blog:

Has anyone else hooked their Mandala to their modular?

Controlling an Analog Modular Synthesizer with a Mandala

I've been trying to carve out some time to try this for a few weeks now.

Just a quick demo - nothing too fancy. Again, there's a ton of power here that I've only scratched the surface of...

Re: Mounting a Mandala to a Pearl-style clamp

One thing I will suggest have spent some time with these new mounts is to use a thicker tube. The tube from the shower curtain was very thin, and if you clamp it too hard it will deform. Actually, I think I just found what I was looking for in the first place: metric panel standoffs. Something like ...

Re: Modulating Synths and Effects in Ableton Live Using Mand

I guess I'll respond to my own thread... I am very interested if there is a way to use the 0-127 CC signal from the Mandala in Ableton Live without an intermediary piece of software (like Pure Data or Max for Live). If any of you have any thoughts, I'd be eager to hear them. I've had Live for severa...

Modulating Synths and Effects in Ableton Live Using Mandala

While working with my Mandala this weekend, I managed to route the radial MIDI control signal into Ableton Live. This lets me control effects (filter cutoff, delay, etc.) by moving around the head. I was surprised that no one had posted anything like this to YouTube, so I threw together a video desc...

Mounting a Mandala to a Pearl-style clamp

I put together a set of instructions for mounting the Mandala drum to a Pearl-style clamp (AX-25L or equivalent). It seems a bit more stable than the cymbal stand option, and doesn't cover the rim like a snare stand does. http://morganhendry.wordpress.com/2012/01/15/pearl-style-mount-for-synesthesia...
