Mounting

Post by Sam »

Has anyone tried mounting a V3 on a regular 3-arm snare stand?

When I first got a V3 in 2024 I did that. Luke (Synesthesia Corporation support) said, “We haven’t done any testing with a 3-arm snare stand but it shouldn’t disrupt pad performance unless the stand is grasping the pad so tightly that the pad frame is being distorted.” So I switched to using an L rod for a while and eventually decided to try the 3-arm stand again. After a while, I started to intermittently have problems with that drum not registering hits. I noticed that the stand was a little snug so I made it plenty loose. It was good for a while after that, but occasionally the problem would happen and intermittently. Now it’s happening a lot even after going back to an L rod. The utility shows that it gets the stick position wrong when it does register a hit. I tried different usb ports including one built into the mac studio. I wonder if I could have messed it up by having it on a 3-arm stand for a while. Has anyone else been doing that?

First thing to do would be a mechanical recalibration of the rims as covered on p.10 of the manual (https://manual.mandalaV3.com). Then perform a center calibration as covered on pp.11-12.

If you still have issues after those steps then email tech support a video of what's happening and they can take it from there.

I did what you suggested and posted a message with a link to a video about it through the www.mandaladrum.com/support-form page 8 days ago, but I haven't seen a response. Could that submission have gotten lost? Should I submit it again?
