Hey guys,

I have a really stupid question. I have bugged Luke quite a bit, in the last couple of week with questions, and stuff. I'd like to not bother him.

Can someone tell me how to get my slide control to work? When I open the utility app, I see every zone getting pressure, and I can see it registering the slide function. However, when I start running Battery 4, it doesn't seem to matter what I strike or slide, in any kind of sequence, I'm not getting any audible effect. I hit all of the zones and rims, and get sounds, it just seems that when I slide, I get nothing. As well, some of the sounds I'm trying to trigger actually go on for a few seconds, but when I hit the pad to trigger that sound, I get the initial sound, and that's it. I'm not sure hoe to make it play the whole thing. It seems to work, sort of, if I strike the pad, and press firmly to try and hold the sample but it almost seems to depend on what the sample is.

Anyway, just a minor question or two, that I haven't found answers to. Of course, I may not be looking in the right places too. Totally possible.

I don't know what you know and what you don't know....so forgive me if I mention something you've already mastered. Also...my last name is Luke, so now matter how hard you tried, you're still getting help from a Luke.

Slide is unlike the note triggers. Let's talk about battery. Battery is a sampler, meaning all the sounds are already made and recorded. This is opposed to a synthesizer, which is creating the sound live when you press a key.

Many synthesizers and plugins and DAWS use MIDI CC #1 to control Modulation. The Slide function of the V3 is set by default to CC #1, so it works right out of the box with so many software programs.

In Battery, there is no default use for CC #1. At this point its not mapped to anything. Assuming your V3 is still set to default, Let's map something to CC #1 !

First, select the cell/sample you want to apply this to. On the bottom tabs, (Main, Effects, Modulation, etc) click on Modulation. Then, in the first drop down under Modulation Slots, choose MIDI CC. In the number list, choose 1. In the second drop down, we'll choose something instantly noticeable, like Pitch. So choose: Tune.

Keep the slider all the way to the right, so the effect is maximum. Now, when you strike your pad and slide, it should effect the pitch/tune of the sample. Here's a short demo video of what your modulation tab will look like, and the sound you'll get. The longer the sample, the more opportunity you'll have to slide back and forth. Very coo! I honestly don't know much so, you explained it perfectly. I have mastered nothing, when it comes to the Mandala's and/or Battery, lol!

So, I guess just try different sounds to see what works well for the slide function, eh?

Are you very proficient with Battery 4, by chance? I have a few more questions. I have been watching some Battery 4 tutorials on Youtube, but haven't found much that I would use.

I'm not bad with Battery. Not a beginner - but I'm still learning new things every time I use it. It's such an awesome program.

What else are you trying to figure out?
