Mandala Drum Forums

I kind of prefer the hard rubber feel of the Mandala v2.0, especially with the Black Beauty program, as it seems more responsive to lighter hits. So I'm wondering if a similar layer of hard rubber is beneath the textured surface pad of the mk2.9. I'm tempted to take a look, but I don't want to take things apart without some outside confirmation.

I've opened up both versions and it's the same hard surface underneath the rubber on both. The newer one has a better feel for me overall though because the rubber layer is a bit different now. It's more like the feel of an acoustic.
