Re: Velocity Malfunction?

We’ve seen this once before and we were able to remedy it but it wasn't very clear to us how the fault actually happened. For the purposes of research we’d like to take a look at your pads. Please contact us at techsupport at synesthesiacorp dot com and we’ll sort you out right away.

Re: Mute zone?

The mk2.9 offered a total of 6 trigger zones with 'Xstick' being a zone that triggered if the surface was engaged when you hit the rim. Because the V3 is updated to 13 zones (4 surface + 9 rim) the Xstick zone was removed. However, if you are triggering the old Virtual Brain (designed for the mk2.9 ...

Re: sensitivity

Check pp. 10-11 of the V3 Manual at https://manual.mandalaV3.com for steps to adjust Surface Threshold and Surface Damping. Both the V3 and the mk2.9 will pick up from 6-9 hits if you drop a 5B stick on them. With the right settings on the V3 you can also sense a guitar pick dropping. The old video ...

Re: Cat 5 or USB?

Powered USB hubs from Anker have worked well for us in the lab, and there have been positive reports about powered Atolla hubs. SS (SuperSpeed) would be preferable for any of them. Danny Carey uses a Coolgear powered hub.

Re: Mounting

First thing to do would be a mechanical recalibration of the rims as covered on p.10 of the manual (https://manual.mandalaV3.com). Then perform a center calibration as covered on pp.11-12.

If you still have issues after those steps then email tech support a video of what's happening and they can ...

Re: Max4Live Max/msp conflict issue when loading

This is an OS file-association issue. What’s actually happening is that when you double-click a .maxpat, your operating system decides which application “owns” that file type.

Since you have a standalone Max application (the Mandala Virtual Brain) installed on your system, your OS may have ...

Re: Connectivity Issues over USB C

The power light being on under a pad means it has gone through a successful USB identification. To troubleshoot in your case, with no pads connected open the MIDI Studio window of Audio MIDI Setup and delete any greyed out icons of 'Mandala_V3'. Then connect one pad at a time directly to a USB port ...

Re: Polyphony/Can't send 2 midi notes at once?

V3 polyphony is 'Any number of rim zones can be triggered simultaneously along with a single surface zone'. Keep in mind though that V3 surface zones (z1-z4) will detect extremely tight flams in order to essentially trigger multiple surface zones simultaneously. Also, Mandala rim zones (r1-r9) are ...

Re: Mandala v2 is not responding

Your v2 pad could be up to 18 years old so this may be a case where it needs a center calibration or is saved with a MIDI output config not recognized by Ableton. You can download the Mandala v2 Virtual Brain v1.6 listed under MANDALA v2 in the Legacy Downloads section at https://mandaladrum.com ...
